ENID BLYTON CONTINUATION SERIES—SCHOOL STORIES: ST. CLARE’S

Enid Blyton originally wrote six books in this series about the St. Clare’s boarding school for girls, attended by twins Pat and Isobel O’Sullivan, among others. The series has been continued on in both the UK and Germany. In Germany especially, a lot of continuation novels have been written. Details about each continuation series follow:
ENGLISH CONTINUATION NOVELS
There are three, all written by Pamela Cox. They cover years that Blyton skipped.

GERMAN CONTINUATION NOVELS: HANNI UND NANNI
Naturally, the English St. Clare’s books, including Pamela Cox’s first two continuation novels, have been translated into German. (To the best of my knowledge, Cox’s latest St. Clare’s novel has not yet been translated.) However, the numbering is rather confused. Nos. 1-4 in the German order correspond to Nos. 1-4 in the English order. But No. 5 in the English sequence is No. 11 in the German one, and No. 6 is German No. 13! Meanwhile, Nos. 20 and 21 are the translations of Pamela Cox’s continuation novels. The remaining 15 books are the true German St. Clare’s continuation novels. In all the German St. Clare’s books, Pat and Isobel are renamed Hanni und Nanni. The setting is also updated from the 1940s to the 1960s, and quite a few other changes are made, including the school itself being renamed from St. Clare’s to Lindenhof.

There is also a one-off movie novelisation, published in May 2010: Hanni und Nanni: Das Buch Zum Film (Literal Translation: St. Clare’s: The Book of the Film). I think this may also have been written by Pascale Kessler.
